Sinner come home

When I first got saved I did not know what I was doing. I knew I made this decision and I knew that I was going to be forgiven and what not, but having a relationship with God was simply obeying him in my eyes. Not growing into one with him.

I have lived most of my salvation under legalism. Punishment. Blessing. Thinking if I did this, God would do that. If I’m doing this and it’s not godly, He wants me to steer clear of him. Not worthy. Unrighteous. I studied the word and used it to try and fix myself. And it became a wedge between me and God. I put it there thinking that’s what he wanted because I wasn’t doing it right. I wasn’t perfect. I did sin. And I had fun in my sin. And it was hard to give up. And when I messed up I fell deeper into my sin because there was no sentiment behind my sin, it was just empty and God certainly wouldn’t fill me in my condition.

Well I was wrong. And it took me 13 years to wrap my head around this so an article may do no justice. But God loves sinners. He loves me in my sin and he loves you in yours too. He wants us. If you’re reading this and you just want a better life and what you’re doing is not working for either your mind, body, or soul, it’s because you’re longing for this fulfillment. You were made with this longing within you. By God. Because only God can fill that void. This is how he gets us close to him. It is like being hungry-only food is going to satisfy that hunger. He has so much for you. He is not mad at you. He wants you to come to him for his glory. Maybe you think you’ve done too much damage or too much lying or cheating or hurting others for him to count you as worthy. But in his eyes you are. He gave Jesus his one and only perfect son to die so you don’t have to think or feel like you can’t be close to him and see wonderful things unfold in your life. We need to stop looking at ourselves through our lens. We see now. God knows and sees what we can be. He wants you to have a relationship with him. He wants to fill your soul and give you the best life you can have here on this journey.

Jesus ate and talked with sinners. They sat and listened to his teachings. He taught love and forgiveness. He came down to show us that God doesn’t want to be separated from us any longer. He wants to give you the life in 1:Corinthians:9-the life you can never hope for, dream or imagine. He knowingly chose disciples that betrayed him and Jesus still died on that cross for them. He died for Joseph on the cross and made him ruler of Egypt even though Joseph murdered a man. And he will do it for you too because you are meant to thrive and flourish in the courts of freedom. Not only that-God doesn’t change. You don’t have to be tied to your past or what people may think you are. Or what your mom says about you or what your husband says or wife nags at. Or boss or most importantly you-what you say about yourself. This is all about showing the world, having the faith and saying, ” I was, but now I am”. I was lost but now I’m found. I was with no purpose but I found mine in Jesus. I was of this world but now I’m not. God can take our thoughts to astounding heights and our dreams into reality. If we come to him.

We all sin. Daily. Sin is sin. God doesn’t want you to pull away because of it, he wants you near to help you have victory over them. To make you more like Jesus. So that you become apart of his “glory story” and then you can share yours with someone else who might really need a glory story. To help them out of depression, or addiction, or the spirit of suicide. Or hopelessness. Or purpose.

My prayer is that if you read this you consider letting Jesus into your heart. He wants to start a relationship with you. He wants to be your partner through this life-your teacher. Teachers don’t get upset at their students when they get something wrong-they guide them to the correct way.

If you want Jesus in your heart today-if you’re ready for a radical change in your life pray this prayer: Jesus, I love you and I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins and transgressions. I understand I have no more baggage to carry and I can start a new life in you. Forgive me for my sins and help me to love you with my whole being. Be my savior and rock. In your precious name, amen.

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.”
‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:15‬ ‭
